The conglomerate news, which despite my best intentions I keep looking at, uniformly reports that 2023 is officially the hottest year on record. I doubt it, but who am I to argue? The poet Allen Ginsburg once told me that the problem with most news is that you can’t talk back to it. Also, above the fold this morning and in bold lettering: dead women stuffed into freezers found all over California, a botched moonshot by Moon Landings, Inc., or some such, Chinese espionage gone wild, Taylor Swift’s bloomers, and a full docket of court/election dramas involving a very strange man called Donald Trump.
There is much, much, more, but the point is to swim away from the whirlpool rather than into it.
Snow is on the way. The inbound storm has been hyped as a blizzard and travel over the Cascades, we are told, will become well-nigh impossible. At 0601 it is only raining but we are told this will become snowflakes with the worst of the storm arriving sometime tonight.
